Photography is both an art and a science; there is a steep learning curve to becoming a good photographer. Anyone can point and click, and amateur luck may sometimes produce a great picture. However, becoming a professional photographer needs a lot of hard work. One needs to learn the technology behind photography, as well as the science of light, and colors, and chemicals that produce images; even software. The most important technical concepts one needs to learn are shutter speeds, exposure, f-stops, film speeds, focus, zooming, and depth of field. As far as concepts of art are concerned, one needs to learn composition, angles and viewpoints, effects of light and shadows, out of focus and focal highlighting, and a host of other concepts familiar to artists and painters. As for photography as a profession or a hobby, there too one needs to get acquainted with various concepts. A number of such queries have been answered below.

A fun thing to do is to combine 2 or more images and merge them together to create a composite image. Common additions include adding a bird or the moon to a dramatic sk...
DSLR is the abbreviation for Digital Single Lens Reflex and cameras with these lenses uses only a single lens to capture an image and to display it on the viewfinder. The image provided to the photographer is exactly the same image that will be captured and stored, making it a great choice for both professional and amateur photographers. The photograph is more vibrant, sharper and clearer than m...
